Idukki- The traveler paradise on earth!

Idukki, popularly known as "Idukki" – High range, is also known as "Traveler Paradise". It is the second-largest district in Kerala after Palakkad. Idukki is derived from the word 'Idukk' .

Idukki is an alluring tourist destination with its mountain peaks, hills, waterfalls, valley of forests and forests .The birth of Idukki District in 1972 was at that time the Headquarters of Kottayam. It was later shifted to "Penaw" in 1976. Idukki is ranked 416th in India.

Around 11, 07,453 lakhs of people are living here and agriculture is the main job of the majority. Idukki is also known as the place of pepper and place of coldness.

The district is known for its dams. 1. Idukki Dam 2. Cheruthoni Dam 3. Penmudi Dam 4. Kallarkutty Dam.Etc are some of the major dams in Idukki.


Thodupuzha, Adimamali, Kattappana, Rajakkad, Murikassery, Kumali, Nedumkandam: Topramkudy, Kanji Kudi, Elappara: Poothadi, Cheruthoni, Munnar, Thankamani, Vannappuram, Karimannur, Raja Kumari. Udumpannur and Peerumede are some of the major places in Idukki.

Idukki is famous for its scenic tourist destinations and the famous first name was Munnar.

Here was the resort of the British Government.The biggest hill plantation made up of connecting the three hills (Muthirappuzha, Nallathani, and kundala) is laying here.

It is also home to the largest tea plantation.The British railway firstly introduced here and later destroyed by the flood that happened in Munnar in history.




Marayoor where the place where the ancient sage's stone pillars (Muniyara), Maraoor jaggery, Maraoor plantations, etc. are laying here.The largest bird sanctuary constructed in the memory of Famous Dr Salim Ali (Thattekkad bird sanctuary) was originally a part of Idukki district and is now part of Ernakulam district. This place is known for its teak trees.


It is in this district that the rainforest only "Eravikulam Wildlife sanctuary" is located. The Neelakurunji flower is the golden feather of Idukki.The "Eastern" company, which has made its mark in the industry, is in the Idukki district. Idukki is famous for Waterfalls and Attukal - Pallivasal Water Falls, Chiappara Water Walls, Vallavararmals and Thommankuthu Waterfalls are some of the major waterfalls.
